A number of our Scouts and Venturers travelled to Camp Impeesa High Adventure Camp to start off the summer of 2017. The camp is located in Southern Alberta, "near" the hamlet of Beaver Hill Mines. Our youth enjoyed zip lining, hiking, climbing, canoeing, paddleboarding, early morning polar bear swims and Thunderball.
According to our Venturers, the best meal of the day was lunch, and one of their favourite dishes was Mama Tracker's Hamburger Sandwich - a simple open face burger on toast that we recreated at Sailing Camp

Mama Tracker's Hamburger Sandwich
- 1/4 cup butter
- 8 onions, finely sliced
- 1 tsp white sugar
- 16 frozen hamburger patties ( frozen pre-cooked makes for fast meal preparation)
- 16 slices of white bread, toasted
- 3 cups prepared beef gravy - canned or from a mix
- In a cast iron frying pan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add sliced onions, and gently fry, adding sugar to aid the caramelization.
- Continues to cook and stir the onions until the onions are a deep brown colour.

- Meanwhile, BBQ the burgers and toast the bread
- To assemble, place a cooked burger on top of the toast. Add caramelized onions and top with gravy.
- Serve to hungry Venturers with plenty of veggies on the side.
